Koi Card Set

A contemporary illustration project where hand-drawn artistry meets thoughtful presentation, exploring how traditional symbolism can be reinterpreted through a modern visual lens.

I created three koi fish designs that were illustrated by hand, then refined into polished digital compositions. Each piece was originally created as part of a cohesive playing card-inspired set, meant to reimagine the Queen, King, and Jack cards. I wanted to create these cards through expressive koi forms that highlight individuality, movement, and elegance within a unified visual system.

While designed as a card series, the illustrations were also developed to function as versatile standalone works, suitable for postcards, prints, or home decor, allowing each piece to be appreciated both individually, or as part of the full larger set.

I created this set early on in my graphic design journey and has been revisited and refined as I've grown and improved my skills. It is especially meaningful to me because I've been able to see its progression firsthand, from a simple concept with an elementary execution to a more polished body of work that I feel accurately expresses me as a designer.
